Helping your teen with unhelpful thoughts
As parents, one of the most powerful ways we can support our teenagers is by helping them understand that their thoughts are not always facts.
Teenagers often experience automatic, believable, and habitual thoughts that can be overly negative and emotionally charged. These thoughts can influence how they feel and behave.
By being curious, supportive listeners and encouraging our teens to question and reframe unhelpful thoughts, we can help them develop more balanced and flexible thinking.
You don’t need to have all the answers—just being there to explore their thoughts with them can make a big difference.
